You might be here because
Something in you knows
the cycle ends here.
You've carried patterns that were never yours to carry. You're done passing them on. This is exactly the kind of work I do.
Anxiety & Perfectionism
You're exhausted from holding everything together.
"I can't turn my brain off, even when everything is fine."
"I say yes to everything and resent all of it."
"No matter what I do, it never feels like enough."
How I can help:
We'll explore the roots of your anxiety and perfectionism, gently unwind the pressure to be everything to everyone, and help you reconnect with a steadier version of yourself.
Postpartum & Motherhood
This isn't what you thought it would feel like.
"I love my baby, but I don't feel like myself at all."
"I'm scared to tell anyone how I actually feel."
"Everyone else seems fine. Why am I struggling so much?"
How I can help:
As a PMH-C certified perinatal therapist, I offer specialized support for postpartum depression, anxiety, birth trauma, and the identity shifts that come with new motherhood.
Trauma & Old Patterns
You can see the cycle clearly. You just can't seem to break it alone.
"I swore I'd never parent like this. And then I heard myself."
"I know exactly where it comes from. Knowing hasn't changed anything."
"I don't want my kids to grow up feeling the way I did."
How I can help:
Using EMDR and AEDP, we work with the nervous system directly so the patterns you inherited stop living in your body, and you stop passing them forward.
Welcome
I’m Laura Kauffman, M.Ed, LPC, PMH-C
I provide perinatal therapy and trauma therapy in West Chester, PA for women who are ready for deeper healing, not just coping strategies.
As an EMDR therapist, I help you process trauma in a way that works with your nervous system, not against it. Together, we address the root of anxiety, birth trauma, and generational patterns so you can experience real, lasting change.
This isn’t just talking about what happened.
It’s helping your body finally feel safe again.
Why I Do This Work
Early in my career, I became deeply fascinated by the brain’s ability to change. Our minds and bodies are always working to protect us, adapting to the experiences we’ve lived through. Even when we feel stuck in anxiety, old wounds, or patterns we wish we could break, those responses often began as ways our system learned to survive.
What continues to inspire me is the brain’s remarkable capacity for healing. Through neuroplasticity, new experiences of safety, understanding, and connection can gently reshape patterns that once felt permanent.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: people are not broken. When the nervous system begins to feel safe enough, the mind and body already know how to move toward healing, growth, and deeper connection.
Therapy for Women & Mothers Ready to Feel Steadier
Motherhood can surface identity shifts, relational triggers, and emotional overwhelm. In our work together, we slow down. We make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. We build new patterns that feel regulating and sustainable.
It’s possible to feel . . .
calmer in your body
less reactive in relationships
more confident in yourself
more like who you used to be , or maybe who you are becoming
